Kyrie Andrew Irving is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on March 23, 1992, he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft and was named the Rookie of the Year. Irving played one year of college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils before joining the Cavaliers, where he achieved significant recognition including being a nine-time NBA All-Star and a three-time member of the All-NBA Team. He won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016, notably making the championship-winning three-pointer in the 2016 NBA Finals to complete the team's comeback over the Golden State Warriors. The following season, Irving appeared in the Finals again before requesting a trade. He was then traded to the Boston Celtics, where he played for two seasons, and later signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019. After four seasons with the Nets, he requested another trade and was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in 2023, reaching his fourth NBA Finals in 2024.
