Kumail Ali Nanjiani, born on May 2, 1978, is a Pakistani and American stand-up comedian, actor, producer, and screenwriter. His work has earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award and multiple other award nominations, including those for the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and two Emmy Awards. In 2018, Time magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Nanjiani's breakthrough came with his role as Dinesh in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, which he starred in from 2014 to 2019. He is also known for performances in various series such as Franklin & Bash, Newsreaders, Portlandia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Boys, and Poker Face. Additionally, he has lent his voice to animated series, notably as Prismo on Adventure Time. Nanjiani co-hosted the Comedy Central show The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail. His acting accolades include a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Twilight Zone and a nomination in 2023 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Welcome to Chippendales.
