Kirk Daniel Cousins, born August 19, 1988, is an American professional football quarterback currently with the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Michigan State Spartans before being selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft. During his tenure with Washington, Cousins spent his first three seasons as a backup to Robert Griffin III before becoming the starting quarterback in 2015 after Griffin's injury; he led the team to a division title and set several franchise records. He was named to the 2017 Pro Bowl while with the Redskins. After experiencing contract negotiations that resulted in franchise tags, Cousins signed a fully guaranteed three-year contract worth 84 million dollars with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. During his six seasons with the Vikings, he earned three Pro Bowl selections and ranked third in franchise history for passing yards. Following his time with the Vikings, Cousins played two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. He is notable for ranking sixth all-time in completion percentage with at least 1,500 pass attempts and is 11th in the NFL's all-time regular season career passer rating.
