Kenneth Alan Florian, born on May 26, 1976, is an American retired mixed martial artist and current commentator. He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he was known for his cerebral approach to the sport, which was based on meticulous game plans supported by his backgrounds in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai. Florian is recognized for his finishing ability, with twelve of his fourteen career victories resulting in stoppages. Notably, he is one of only two fighters in UFC history to compete in four different weight classes, including Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight, and Featherweight. He achieved significant exposure after defeating Chris Leben on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show, though he lost to Diego Sanchez in the finale. Throughout his career, Florian competed twice for the UFC Lightweight Championship and once for the Featherweight Championship, but was unsuccessful against Sean Sherk, B.J. Penn, and José Aldo. Recognized as one of the elite competitors during his tenure, he is considered among the best mixed martial artists never to have won a UFC Championship. After retiring from active competition, Florian has worked as a commentator and analyst. He served as an analyst for UFC on Fox from 2011 to 2018 and provided color commentary for UFC Fight Night.
