Kazuo Ishiguro: podcast appearances and interviews

Sir Kazuo Ishiguro is a Japanese-British novelist, screenwriter, musician, and short-story writer born in Nagasaki, Japan. He moved to Britain with his parents in 1960 when he was five years old. Ishiguro is recognized as one of the most critically acclaimed contemporary fiction authors writing in English and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017. The Swedish Academy cited him for his novels of great emotional force that have uncovered the abyss beneath the illusion of human connection. His early works, including A Pale View of Hills and An Artist of the Floating World, examined Japanese identity and were noted for their mournful tone. Over time, Ishiguro has expanded his thematic scope to include science fiction and historical fiction, while maintaining a focus on themes such as the outsider's perspective, the quest for an unattainable truth, and the fragile nature of recent history. He has been nominated for the Booker Prize four times and won in 1989 for The Remains of the Day, which was later adapted into a film. Time magazine named his novel Never Let Me Go as the best novel of 2005 and one of the 100 best English-language novels published between 1923 and 2005. Additionally, Ishiguro was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 2022 film Living.
