Kai Cheng Thom: podcast appearances and interviews

Kai Cheng Thom, born on March 12, 1991, is a Chinese-Canadian writer, performance artist, mental health community worker, youth counsellor, and former social worker. As a transgender woman, Thom has contributed significantly to literature with five published books. Her works include the novel Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars: A Dangerous Trans Girl's Confabulous Memoir, published in 2016, and the poetry collection a place called No Homeland, released in 2017. She also authored a children's book titled From the Stars in The Sky to the Fish in the Sea in 2017. Thom's writing often explores themes of identity, justice, and transformation, as exemplified in her 2019 book I Hope We Choose Love: A Trans Girl's Notes from the End of the World, which focuses on transformative justice. Her most recent publication, Falling Back in Love With Being Human: Letters to Lost Souls, was released in 2023. In addition to her literary work, Thom is engaged in mental health advocacy and community work, often centered around issues affecting transgender and marginalized communities.
