Justin Sherman, born on January 26, 1987, is an Australian rules footballer known for his career with the Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League. Drafted as the number 45 pick in the 2004 AFL draft from Clarence, he made his AFL debut for the Brisbane Lions in round 4 of the 2005 season against Hawthorn. In his second season, Sherman was recognized as the runner-up in the Brisbane Lions' best and fairest award, highlighting his significant contributions as a midfielder. He was versatile on the field, capable of playing in the forward pocket, deep half-forward, or half-backline. In October 2010, Sherman was traded to the Western Bulldogs. During his career, he was involved in a racial vilification incident in June 2011 during a match against Gold Coast; following the incident, he apologized to the other player, and his apology was accepted. The club suspended him for four weeks, and he contributed $5,000 to a charity, participated in multicultural and community programs, and volunteered for the Red Dust Role Models program aimed at mentoring Indigenous youths in remote communities. As of 2018, Sherman has taken on roles as both captain and coach of the Laurimar Football Club in the Northern Football Netball League, continuing his involvement in football and community initiatives.
