Julia May Whelan, born on May 8, 1984, is an American actress, narrator, and author. She gained recognition for her role as Grace Manning on the television family drama series Once and Again, which aired from 1999 to 2002. Whelan also co-starred in the 2002 Lifetime movie The Secret Life of Zoey. As a child actor, she began her on-screen career at the age of 11 and continued to secure television roles until she entered Middlebury College in 2004. She graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury in 2008, having spent an academic year as a visiting student at Lincoln College, Oxford. After a brief return to film acting with a role in Fading of the Cries in 2008, Whelan shifted her focus to audiobook narration in the 2010s. She has since established herself as a prominent narrator, having recorded over 600 audiobooks as of August 2025. In addition to her narration work, she is an author; her debut novel My Oxford Year was published in 2018. Whelan is recognized as an award-winning narrator, notable for her work across a broad range of literary genres.
