Judith A. Curry is an American climatologist and Professor Emerita of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She served as the chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and has conducted research in various areas including hurricanes, remote sensing, atmospheric modeling, polar climates, air-sea interactions, climate models, and the application of unmanned aerial vehicles for atmospheric research. Throughout her career, she has published over a hundred scientific papers and co-edited several major works. Curry was a member of the National Research Council's Climate Research Committee. She retired from academia in 2017. After her retirement, Curry became known for her blog, which is part of the climate change denial blogosphere. Her position on climate change has been characterized by some social scientists as 'neo-skepticism,' acknowledging that the planet is warming and that human activities contribute to this warming, while also emphasizing uncertainties in climate models and questioning the economic feasibility of mitigation efforts. In 2013, she testified before the United States Congress, expressing her view that the significant uncertainty surrounding natural climate variation casts doubt on the effectiveness of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
