Jonathan Watkins: podcast appearances and interviews

Jonathan Watkins born in 1957 is an English curator with extensive experience in the art world. He served as the Director of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and previously held the same position at the Chisenhale Gallery in London during the early 1990s. Watkins studied Philosophy and History of Art at the University of Sydney after emigrating to Australia with his family in 1969. His curatorial career includes a lengthy tenure at the Serpentine Gallery where he worked as a curator from 1985 to 1997, and he provided curatorial freelance services for the Biennale of Sydney in 1998. Moreover, Watkins has curated projects at notable institutions such as the Castello di Rivoli in Turin, the Hayward Gallery and Tate in London, as well as at the Venice Biennale in Italy. He has a familial connection to the arts through his younger brother Philip Watkins, who is recognized as a musician and artist.
