Jonah Jacob Goldberg, born on March 21, 1969, is an American conservative journalist, author, and political commentator. He is a senior fellow and the Asness Chair in Applied Liberty at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Goldberg was the founding editor of National Review Online, serving from 1998 until 2019, and has also been an editor at National Review. He writes a weekly column on politics and culture for the Los Angeles Times and became the founding editor of The Dispatch, an online opinion and news publication, in October 2019. Goldberg is the author of several books, including the No. 1 New York Times bestseller Liberal Fascism, published in January 2008; The Tyranny of Cliches: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas, published in 2012; and Suicide of the West, published in April 2018, which also became a New York Times bestseller. Throughout his career, Goldberg has been a frequent contributor to various news networks such as CNN and MSNBC, appearing on programs like Good Morning America, Nightline, and The Daily Show. He has also made regular appearances on Fox News shows and was a panelist on Special Report with Bret Baier. Goldberg has been a critic of President Donald Trump, his fellow Republicans, and the conservative media complex, especially during and after Trump's first term. In November 2021, Goldberg and Steve Hayes resigned from Fox News in protest over Tucker Carlson's documentary Patriot Purge, criticizing it for alleged factual inaccuracies and conspiracy-mongering.
