Jon M. Chu: podcast appearances and interviews

Jon M. Chu is an American filmmaker born on November 2, 1979. He is recognized for directing the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians in 2018, which was notable as one of the first films by a major Hollywood studio to feature a majority cast of Asian descent. His work also includes the two-part fantasy musical adaptation Wicked, with Wicked in 2024 and Wicked: For Good in 2025. For his direction of Wicked, Chu received the National Board of Review Award for Best Director and the Critics' Choice Award for Best Director. Chu graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and has directed several films that incorporate musical elements. His directorial portfolio includes dance films such as Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D, the science fiction film G.I. Joe: Retaliation, musicals Jem and the Holograms and In the Heights, as well as live concert films featuring Justin Bieber, including Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and Justin Bieber's Believe.
