Jon Collins: podcast appearances and interviews

Jon Collins is the Vice President of Engagement at GigaOm and is affiliated with Foxpro Inc. He is primarily known for his collegiate basketball career at Eastern Illinois University, where he played between 1982–83 and 1985–86. During his time there, Collins scored a total of 1,702 points, setting a school record. He was recognized as an All-Mid Continent Conference First Team honoree three times and received the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year award twice, a distinction later known as The Summit League. In each of his final three seasons, he averaged over 18 points per game and surpassed 500 total points annually. Collins reached double figures in 87 of 90 games, including a school-record streak of 53 straight games scoring in double digits. As a junior, he led Eastern Illinois to a 20-10 record and their first Mid-Continent Conference championship. That season, he garnered honorable mention All-American honors from both the Associated Press and Sporting News. Following his collegiate career, Collins was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the fifth round of the 1986 NBA draft but did not play in the league. After retiring from professional basketball, he worked for Allstate Insurance. In recognition of his athletic achievements, Eastern Illinois University inducted him into their athletics hall of fame in 1993.
