John Ortberg: podcast appearances and interviews

John Carl Ortberg Jr. is an American evangelical Christian author, speaker, and pastor. He served as the senior pastor of Menlo Church in Menlo Park, California, an ECO Presbyterian church with more than 4,000 members, for 17 years. Ortberg has authored numerous books; his 1997 publication The Life You Have Always Wanted: Spiritual Disciplines for Ordinary People sold more than 500,000 copies as of 2008. His 2002 book If You Want to Walk on Water You Have to Get Out of the Boat was a Christianity Today Book Award winner, and his 2008 work When the Game is Over It All Goes Back in the Box received an ECPA Christian Book Award. Additionally, his 2012 book Who Is This Man?: The Unpredictable Impact of the Inescapable Jesus debuted at number 29 on Christian Book Expo's bestseller list. In the summer of 2020, Ortberg resigned from his position at Menlo Church following an investigation into his conduct concerning his son, John III, who had disclosed unwanted attractions to minors and continued volunteer church work with minors after disclosure. Since his resignation, Ortberg has been involved in running a podcast that offers daily Bible devotionals and he frequently speaks at Christian events.
