John Maeda, born in 1966, is an American designer, visual artist, executive, strategic advisor, writer, and educator. He is currently serving as the vice president of design and artificial intelligence at Microsoft. Maeda has held several notable positions, including chief technology officer of Everbridge from October 2020 through October 2022. He also served as president of the Rhode Island School of Design from June 2008 until December 2013, overseeing the institution's academic and administrative functions. Prior to this, Maeda was a research professor at the MIT Media Lab, where he led advancements in computational design, low-code and no-code development, and creative commerce.
