John Ghazvinian: podcast appearances and interviews

John Ghazvinian is an Iranian-American author, historian, and former journalist born on April 23, 1974. He is recognized as an authority on the history of United States and Iran relations. Ghazvinian is best known for his book, America and Iran: A History, 1720 to the Present, which was named by The New York Times as one of the 100 Notable Books of 2021. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Middle East Center at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Throughout his career, Ghazvinian has contributed to various prominent publications including Newsweek, The New York Times, The Nation, The Washington Post, The Sunday Times, and Politico. His research on U.S.–Iran relations has been supported by fellowships from the Carnegie Corporation in 2009 and the National Endowment for the Humanities in 2016. In addition to his notable book, he authored Untapped: The Scramble for Africa’s Oil, published in 2007, and co-edited American and Muslim Worlds Before 1900, published in 2020.
