Barry John Cullen, born on August 2, 1964, is known for his role as the captain of the USA Military rugby team. He is affiliated with mentaladvantage.net. Cullen's background includes a notable career in professional ice hockey, during which he played as a centre for ten seasons in the National Hockey League. He played college ice hockey for the Boston University Terriers, establishing himself as a standout player and becoming the school's all-time leading scorer. Although selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1986 NHL supplemental draft, he did not receive a contract from the team. Instead, Cullen signed with the Flint Spirits of the International Hockey League for the 1987–88 season, earning the titles of IHL's co-Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player by leading the league in scoring.

His hockey career was interrupted in 1997 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. After battling the illness for 18 months, Cullen made a brief comeback in 1998, which was recognized by the NHL with the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Following his retirement from playing, he served as an assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning for a year. Cullen participated in two NHL All-Star Games during his career. Outside of hockey, he and his brother operated a car dealership business, although the dealership was ultimately forced to close during the automotive industry crisis of 2008–10.
