John Bramblitt: podcast appearances and interviews

John Bramblitt, born in 1971 in El Paso, Texas, is an American blind painter recognized as the first blind muralist in the world. He has created murals in New York and Dallas and is known for a style that combines impressionism with the modern aesthetic of pop art. Bramblitt's artwork has been exhibited in over 120 countries around the world. He is also notable for his engaging speaking events, lectures, and free art workshops that aim to make art accessible to people regardless of their abilities or disabilities.

Bramblitt began painting after losing his sight in 2001 due to severe seizures. Previously, he was a student at the University of North Texas and was featured on the television series Texas Country Reporter. Despite his blindness, Bramblitt has developed unique techniques that involve feeling textures and sensing his subjects to create his art. His work has garnered media attention, including an award-winning documentary and a video named Most Inspirational Video of 2008 on YouTube. He has received three U.S. presidential service awards in 2005, 2006, and 2007 for organizing free art workshops aimed at increasing access to art education.

He is also the author of the book Shouting in the Dark and continues to paint while living in Denton, Texas with his wife and son.
