Joseph Anthony Pereira, born on September 10, 1950, and professionally known as Joe Perry, is an American musician affiliated with the Choctaw Nation. He is best known as a founding member of the rock band Aerosmith, serving as guitarist, backing vocalist, and occasional lead vocalist. Perry has appeared on nearly every studio album by Aerosmith, contributing significantly to their sound and success. In addition to his work with the band, he leads his own solo band called the Joe Perry Project and participates in the all-star band Hollywood Vampires alongside Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp. Recognized for his guitar talents, Perry was ranked 84th on Rolling Stone's list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 as part of Aerosmith. In 2013, Perry, together with his songwriting partner Steven Tyler, received the ASCAP Founders Award and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His memoir, Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith, was published in October 2014 by Simon & Schuster, with co-author David Ritz, offering insights into his life and musical career.
