Joseph Anthony Mantegna, born on November 13, 1947, is an American actor recognized for his work in film, television, and theatre. He has been a cast member on CBS's Criminal Minds since 2007, portraying FBI Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi. Mantegna's voice work includes a recurring role as mob boss Fat Tony on the animated series The Simpsons, beginning with the episode Bart the Murderer in 1991, and in The Simpsons Movie in 2007. His acting career started in 1969 with a stage performance in the Chicago production of Hair. He has received notable awards, including a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play and a Joseph Jefferson Award for portraying Richard Roma in the play Glengarry Glen Ross. Mantegna has a longstanding collaboration with playwright David Mamet, having appeared in the premieres of several of Mamet's works on Broadway, such as A Life in the Theatre, The Disappearance of the Jews, and Speed-the-Plow.
