Jo Caulfield, born on 26 September 1963, is a Welsh stand-up comedian, comedy writer, and author. She was a joint winner of the 2021 Comedians' Comedian of the Year, an accolade voted for by her peers and industry members. Caulfield was born in St Asaph while her father, an RAF soldier, was stationed there; her parents are both from Northern Ireland. She has an older sister and an older brother. In 2018, Caulfield received the SGFringe Stand-Up Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe and earned critical acclaim for her role as Helena Brandt in the sell-out Fringe production of Brexit. Behind the scenes, she is a respected comedy writer, having served as a writer and programme consultant on all five series of Graham Norton's BAFTA Award-winning show So Graham Norton. Additionally, she was the head writer for Ruby Wax's The Waiting Game and Zoe Ball's Strictly Dance Fever. Her writing credits extend to notable personalities including Joan Rivers, Ant & Dec, and Anne Robinson. As a performer, Caulfield has hosted several shows on BBC Radio 4 including It's That Jo Caulfield Again, Jo Caulfield Won't Shut Up, Jo Caulfield's Speakeasy, and The Jo Caulfield Stand-Up Special. She has appeared as a guest on various programmes such as Fighting Talk on BBC Radio 5 Live, Off the Ball on BBC Radio Scotland, and BBC Scotland's Debate Night. She is also a regular contributor to Times Radio, providing insights on current news and political topics. Caulfield resides in Leith, Edinburgh, with her husband Stuart, who is from Aberdeen.
