Jo-Anne McArthur: podcast appearances and interviews

Jo-Anne McArthur, born on December 23, 1976, is a Canadian photojournalist, humane educator, animal rights activist, and author. She is recognized for her We Animals project, a photography initiative that documents human relationships with animals. Through the We Animals Humane Education program, McArthur delivers presentations in educational and other settings to explore these relationships. She also operates the We Animals Archive, providing photographs and other media to support efforts aimed at helping animals. McArthur is associated with We Animals Media, a media agency dedicated to human and animal relationship storytelling. She was the primary subject of the 2013 documentary The Ghosts in Our Machine, directed by Liz Marshall. Additionally, she co-founded the Unbound Project with Keri Cronin to celebrate and recognize female animal activists. McArthur has authored three books: We Animals published in 2013, Captive published in 2017, and Hidden: Animals in the Anthropocene, co-authored with Keith Wilson and published in 2020. Her work has been recognized with various awards and commendations, including several in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards and joint first place in the COP26 photography competition.
