James Marshall Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, recognized as one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in the history of rock music. Born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27, 1942, he began playing guitar at age 15 and later pursued a career through various musical engagements, including backing bands for the Isley Brothers and Little Richard. In late 1966, Hendrix moved to England after his manager Chas Chandler formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell.
