Jim Tressel: podcast appearances and interviews

Jim Tressel is an American politician and retired college football coach who has served as the 67th lieutenant governor of Ohio since 2025. Prior to this role, he was the president of Youngstown State University from 2014 to 2023. Tressel's career in college football spans several decades, during which he was the head coach of the Youngstown State Penguins from 1986 to 2000 and the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2001 to 2010. His teams achieved significant success, including five national championships, four with Youngstown State during the 1990s and one with Ohio State in 2002. His success on the field earned him multiple Coach of the Year awards and election to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Born in Painesville, Ohio, Tressel played football as a quarterback at Baldwin–Wallace College, where he was coached by his father, Lee Tressel. After coaching at Youngstown State and Ohio State, he faced controversy in 2011 when he resigned from Ohio State amid an NCAA investigation into improper benefits given to players during the 2010 season. Following his coaching career, Tressel served as a consultant for the Indianapolis Colts and as vice president of strategic engagement at the University of Akron before assuming his role at Youngstown State University. In 2025, he was nominated and confirmed as Ohio lieutenant governor, officially taking office in February of that year.
