Jim Matheson: podcast appearances and interviews

Jim Matheson is the CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, a trade organization for rural electric cooperatives. He was appointed to this position in June 2016, succeeding Jo Ann Emerson. Matheson has a background in politics, having served as a United States representative from Utah from 2001 to 2015. During his congressional tenure, he represented Utah's 2nd district from 2001 to 2013 and its 4th district from 2013 to 2015. Notably, he was Utah's only congressional Democrat during his time in office, representing a district with a strong Republican leaning. Matheson chose not to seek reelection in 2014. There was speculation he might pursue a gubernatorial or U.S. Senate seat in Utah in 2016; however, he did not run for those offices. Following his congressional career, he joined the law firm Squire Patton Boggs as a lobbyist in 2015. His appointment as CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association marked a transition from his legislative work to leadership roles within trade organizations representing rural electric cooperatives.
