Jenny Beavan, born in 1950, is a British costume designer recognized for her extensive work in film, television, and theater. She gained prominence through her decade-long collaboration with John Bright on creating costumes for Merchant Ivory Productions. Beavan has received numerous accolades, including three Academy Awards for Best Costume Design for A Room with a View, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Cruella. In addition, she holds four BAFTA Film Awards for the same film and has been nominated ten times for the BAFTA Award for Best Costume Design. Her television work has earned her five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with wins for Emma and Return to Cranford, as well as three nominations for the British Academy Television Craft Award. Beavan's stage work includes designing costumes for productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, West End, and Broadway. Her stage achievements include winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Costume Design for the West End revival of Private Lives and a Tony Award nomination for the same production when it transferred to Broadway. In 2017, she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire. In 2025, she received the Costume Designers Guild Career Achievement Award.
