Jenna Lynn Ellis, born November 1, 1984, is an American lawyer known for her role as a former senior legal adviser to Donald Trump during his 2020 re-election campaign. She previously served as a deputy district attorney in Weld County, Colorado. During the Trump presidency, Ellis presented herself as a constitutional law attorney during cable news appearances, although reports noted that her background did not include federal case experience. Her political stance has evolved over time; she was initially a critic of Donald Trump and his supporters before supporting him once he became the Republican nominee in 2016. In November 2019, she was hired by Trump as a senior legal adviser and was part of a legal effort to challenge Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election. Ellis claimed that Trump was the true winner and drafted memos suggesting Vice President Mike Pence could alter the election results. Her involvement in efforts to overturn the election led to legal consequences, including a public censure by the Colorado Supreme Court in March 2023 for making misrepresentations about the election. She was also indicted in Georgia in August 2023 and pleaded guilty in October 2023 to a felony count related to false statements. Additional charges were filed against her in Arizona in 2024.
