Jeffrey A. Sonnenfeld is an American academic specializing in business leadership and management. He holds the position of Lester Crown Professor in the Practice of Management at Yale School of Management and is the Senior Associate Dean for Leadership Studies. Sonnenfeld is the founder and CEO of the Chief Executive Leadership Institute, which is affiliated with Yale University. He is well known for organizing Yale's semi-annual CEO Summits, which have hosted thousands of CEOs over the years for off-the-record peer discussions. In addition to his academic role, Sonnenfeld has served as an informal advisor to numerous CEOs and multiple U.S. presidents and presidential nominees from both parties, including Joseph Biden, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush. He has acted as a conduit between top business and political leaders. Sonnenfeld has achieved the distinction of being the first academic to ring the opening bells of both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Exchange ten times. His board memberships include Lennar, a major American homebuilder, IEX, Atlas Merchant Capital, and the Ellis Island Honor Society. Furthermore, he was appointed by Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont to serve as co-chair of Advance Connecticut, where he leads efforts to attract and retain global businesses and develop the state’s workforce.
