Jeff Christensen is an associate professor in the Faculty of Business & Government at Brigham Young University–Hawaii where he also serves as the director of the Center for Hospitality & Tourism. Although known primarily for his academic roles, Christensen has a background as a former professional football player, having played as a quarterback in the National Football League for the Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns. He played college football for the Eastern Illinois Panthers and was selected in the fifth round of the 1983 NFL draft. In addition to his playing career, Christensen is recognized as a highly influential quarterback coach. He is regarded as one of the premier developers of quarterbacks in football, with a reputation for his emphasis on biomechanics, footwork, and mental processing. His work has helped train notable quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Trey Lance, Ty Simpson, and Drew Mestemaker. Christensen’s coaching has had a lasting impact on modern quarterback development, and he is frequently acknowledged as one of the most influential figures in that field. His son Jake has played college football at both Iowa and Eastern Illinois, reflecting a family connection to the sport.
