Jean Burgess: podcast appearances and interviews

Jean Burgess is a Distinguished Professor of Digital Media at the Queensland University of Technology, where she is a member of the QUT Digital Media Research Centre and the School of Communication. She founded and directed the Digital Media Research Centre from 2015 to 2020 and currently serves as the associate director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society. Her previous role included deputy directorship of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation at QUT. From 2010 to 2013, Burgess was an Australian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow, collaborating with Axel Bruns on the ARC Discovery Project titled 'New Media and Public Communication.' Her research focuses on cultural participation within new media contexts, with particular emphasis on user-created content, online social networks, and co-creative media such as digital storytelling. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 2021.
