Jay King: podcast appearances and interviews

Jay King is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, record label executive, music manager, and radio show host. In 1986, he produced and promoted Timex Social Club's song Rumors, which reached number one on Billboard's R&B chart. He subsequently formed the music group Club Nouveau, known for their Grammy-nominated remake of Lean on Me, which also charted at number one on Billboard's R&B chart and was certified Platinum. That same year, King established King Jay Records, collaborating with major labels such as RCA Records and Warner Bros. Records. His label released albums for artists including Club Nouveau, Michael Cooper, New Choice, Theresa, and Mikki Bleu. As a solo artist, he has released three albums titled Open Book, Helen's Son, and Soulful Bossa Nova. These works received favorable reviews, with the song Good Kind of Lovin from Helen's Son reaching the top ten on the UK Soul chart in 2018. In addition to his music career, Jay King has been active in business and civic roles. He was elected President of the California Black Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and serves as the Chairman of the African American DBE Participation Committee for the California Department of Transportation.
