Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa is an American actor and film producer born on August 1, 1979. He made his acting debut on the syndicated action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii, portraying Jason Ioane from 1999 to 2001. He is known for his roles as Ronon Dex on the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis, which aired from 2005 to 2009, and Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, broadcast between 2011 and 2012. Momoa has also played lead roles in various television series including the Discovery Channel's historical drama Frontier, which aired from 2016 to 2018, and the Apple TV shows See, from 2019 to 2022, and Chief of War, scheduled for release in 2025. Since 2016, he has been a notable presence in DC Comics media, particularly portraying Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe until 2023. His film work includes the science fiction film Dune, where he played Duncan Idaho in 2021, as well as starring roles in the action film Fast X in 2023 and the adventure comedy film A Minecraft Movie scheduled for 2025.
