Jane Philpott: podcast appearances and interviews

Jane Pauline Philpott is a physician, academic administrator, and former Canadian politician. She was elected to the House of Commons in 2015 as a member of the Liberal Party representing the riding of Markham;Stouffville. During her time in office, she was appointed to the Cabinet of the 29th Canadian Ministry as President of the Treasury Board but resigned from this position in March 2019 amid the SNC-Lavalin affair. Following her resignation, she was expelled from the Liberal caucus and ran for re-election as an independent in 2019, though she was not re-elected. Before her political career, Philpott was recognized as a family physician with extensive involvement in medical education in Africa, HIV/AIDS fundraising, refugee advocacy, and research on the social determinants of health. In February 2020, she was appointed dean of the Queen's University Faculty of Health Sciences, where she also served as director of the Queen's School of Medicine and CEO of the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization. She assumed the role of CEO on July 1, 2020, and held this position until her resignation in December 2024 to pursue a new role within the Ontario government.
