Jane Alexander, born October 28, 1939, is an American-Canadian actress and author known for her extensive work in theater, film, and television. She has received significant recognition in the performing arts, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and nominations for four Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. Alexander's career in theater includes her debut Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in The Great White Hope in 1969. She has appeared in other Broadway productions such as 6 Rms Riv Vu, The Night of the Iguana, The Sisters Rosensweig, and Honour, earning a total of eight Tony nominations and subsequently being inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1994. Her film work garnered critical acclaim with her breakthrough in The Great White Hope (1970), which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She received additional Academy Award nominations for her roles in All the President's Men, Kramer vs. Kramer, and Testament.
