Jamie Bateman, born on September 16, 1954, is the CEO, founder, and editor-in-chief of The Florida Homesteaders. His career began in professional ice hockey where he played in the World Hockey Association. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 1974 NHL amateur draft by the Boston Bruins and chose to play in the WHA after being selected by the San Diego Mariners in the fourth round of the 1974 WHA Amateur Draft. Bateman participated in parts of two seasons with the Mariners. Transitioning from his athletic career, he established himself in the media industry, leading The Florida Homesteaders, where he holds multiple roles including leadership, founding, and editorial responsibilities.
