James Hunt: podcast appearances and interviews

James Hunt was a British actor and BBC newsreader known for his work in stories about autism. Prior to his broadcasting career, he was a racing driver who competed in Formula One from 1973 to 1979. He achieved notable success in motorsport, including winning the 1976 Formula One World Drivers' Championship with McLaren, and securing ten Grand Prix victories across seven seasons. Hunt began his racing career in touring cars and moved to Formula Three in 1969. His early reputation was marked by his reckless driving style and a prominent playboy lifestyle. He joined Hesketh Racing in 1973, making his Formula One debut at the Monaco Grand Prix and earning podium finishes in his rookie season. In 1974, he achieved multiple podiums and a significant victory at the non-championship BRDC International Trophy. His victory at the 1975 Dutch Grand Prix is regarded as one of racing's greatest underdog wins. After Hesketh's sponsorship issues, Hunt joined McLaren in 1976, where he clinched the world championship in a closely contested battle. He continued to race with McLaren and later with Wolf, retiring from Formula One after the 1979 Monaco Grand Prix. Post-retirement, Hunt established a career as a television commentator and columnist, including work for the BBC and The Independent. He also mentored Mika Häkkinen through Marlboro. Hunt passed away from a heart attack at the age of 45 at his home in Wimbledon.
