James Horner: podcast appearances and interviews

James Roy Horner was an American film composer and conductor notable for his work on over 160 films and television productions from 1978 until his death in 2015. He was recognized for integrating choral and electronic elements with traditional orchestration and for incorporating motifs associated with Celtic music into his compositions. Horner received two Academy Awards for his score for the film Titanic, which became the best-selling orchestral film soundtrack of all time, and his work on Avatar contributed to the highest-grossing film ever at the time of its release. His compositions earned him additional accolades including six Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, and multiple nominations for BAFTA Awards. Among his other acclaimed scores are films such as Aliens, An American Tail, Field of Dreams, Apollo 13, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, and House of Sand and Fog. His work also includes scores for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Willow, The Land Before Time, and several major Hollywood productions. Horner collaborated with numerous distinguished directors, producers, and songwriters throughout his career. Apart from his musical achievements, he was an avid pilot. He died in 2015 at age 61 in a single-fatality crash while flying his Short Tucano turboprop aircraft. His final three film scores, for Southpaw, The 33, and The Magnificent Seven, were completed and released after his passing.
