Jack Michaels: podcast appearances and interviews

Jack Michaels, born on January 23, 1974, is an American ice hockey announcer currently serving as the play-by-play announcer for the Edmonton Oilers broadcasts on 880 CHED and Sportsnet television. He began his broadcasting career after graduating from Ithaca College in 1995, working as a sports announcer for WMGW-AM in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In 1999, Michaels shifted his focus to hockey full-time when he became the play-by-play announcer for the Colorado Gold Kings of the West Coast Hockey League in Colorado Springs. Following the team's dissolution in 2002, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, to work as the play-by-play announcer and media relations director for the Alaska Aces, a team that later joined the ECHL. During this time, Michaels also served as the play-by-play announcer for four ECHL All-Star Games. Over his career, he has broadcast a total of 919 professional hockey games. In 2010, Michaels transitioned to National Hockey League broadcasting when he joined the Edmonton Oilers as their radio play-by-play announcer. In 2021, he expanded his role to television broadcasting for the team on Sportsnet.
