Irshad Manji: podcast appearances and interviews

Irshad Manji, born in 1968, is a Ugandan-born Canadian educator, author, and leadership professor. She has written several books, including The Trouble with Islam Today (2004) and Allah, Liberty and Love (2011), both of which have been banned in multiple Muslim countries. Manji produced the PBS documentary Faith Without Fear as part of the America at a Crossroads series, earning an Emmy Award nomination in 2008. Her work advocates for a reformist interpretation of Islam and critiques literalist readings of the Qur'an. Her most recent publication, Don't Label Me (2019), offers methods for healing political, racial, and cultural divides. She established the Moral Courage Project at New York University in 2008, and later expanded it to the University of Southern California, where she was a senior fellow at the Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy. Following her tenure at USC, Manji founded Moral Courage College, aiming to teach young people how to engage honestly on polarized issues without resorting to shaming or canceling. She is a senior research fellow with the Oxford Initiative for Global Ethics and Human Rights, where she continues to lecture on themes of moral courage and social engagement.
