About Ian Woosnam
Ian Harold Woosnam is a Welsh professional golfer born on March 2, 1958. He turned professional in 1976 as a teenager and secured his first European Tour win at the 1982 Swiss Open, marking the beginning of a successful decade. Woosnam led the European Tour's Order of Merit in 1987 and 1990 and ultimately won 29 tournaments on the tour, which ranks among the most ever achieved. His career reached its peak in 1991 when he won the Masters Tournament and spent most of that year ranked number one in the world. After the age of 50, Woosnam continued to find success in senior categories, winning events on the Champions Tour, European Senior Tour, and Japan Senior Tour. In recognition of his contributions to golf, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017 at the age of 59.
