About Ian Redmond
Ian Michael Redmond OBE FZS FLS, born on 11 April 1954, is a tropical field biologist and conservationist noted for his work with mountain gorillas and elephants. He has been involved in over 50 documentaries on these subjects for organizations such as the BBC, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel. He has participated in fundraising events for the charity, including the Great Gorilla Run. Redmond also established the African Elephant Fund after discovering the body of an elephant he named Charles and led campaigns such as Elefriends to combat the ivory trade. Additionally, he is an advisor to various conservation organizations, chairs the Ape Alliance, founded the UK Rhino Group, and helped launch the UNEP/UNESCO Great Apes Survival Partnership.
