Huey Lewis, born Hugh Anthony Cregg III on July 5, 1950, is an American actor and former singer-songwriter. He is recognized for his role as the lead singer and harmonica player of the band Huey Lewis and the News. Lewis contributed to the band's success by singing lead vocals and co-writing many of their songs. The band gained widespread recognition with their third and best-selling album Sports, which featured a sound that became emblematic of 1980s pop and rock music. Huey Lewis and the News also contributed to the soundtrack of the 1985 film Back to the Future, adding to their cultural impact. Prior to forming his own band, Lewis played with the band Clover from 1972 to 1979.
