Hayley Catherine Rose Vivien Mills, born on 18 April 1946, is an English actress and the daughter of Sir John Mills and Mary Hayley Bell. She is the younger sister of actress Juliet Mills. Mills began her acting career as a child and quickly gained recognition for her talent. Her performance in the British crime drama film Tiger Bay in 1959 earned her the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She also received the Academy Juvenile Award for Disney's Pollyanna in 1960 and the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year in 1961. During her early career, Mills appeared in six films for Walt Disney, including her notable dual role as twins Susan and Sharon in The Parent Trap in 1961. Her role in Whistle Down the Wind, adapted from her mother’s novel, garnered her a BAFTA nomination for Best British Actress, and she was voted the biggest star in Britain in 1961. In the late 1960s, Mills expanded into theatrical performances with her stage debut in a 1969 West End revival of Peter Pan and took on more mature roles. Her success with Disney earned her the Disney Legend Award. She continued to act in films and television throughout her adult years, including starring roles in the 1981 mini-series The Flame Trees of Thika, the 1988 Disney TV series Good Morning, Miss Bliss, and the ITV series Wild at Heart from 2007 to 2012. Mills published her memoirs, Forever Young, in 2021.
