Harry Shearer: podcast appearances and interviews

Harry Julius Shearer, born on December 23, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actor, comedian, musician, radio host, writer, and producer. He began his career as a child actor and was a member of the radio comedy group The Credibility Gap from 1969 to 1976. After the group disbanded, he co-wrote the film Real Life with Albert Brooks and worked as a writer on the television series Fernwood 2 Night. Shearer was a cast member on Saturday Night Live during the periods of 1979 to 1980 and 1984 to 1985. He co-created, co-wrote, and co-starred in the satirical film This Is Spinal Tap in 1984. In 1989, he joined the cast of the animated sitcom The Simpsons, voicing numerous characters including Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, and Principal Skinner. His film appearances include The Truman Show and A Mighty Wind, and he has directed two films. Since 1983, he has hosted the public radio program Le Show, which features satire, music, and sketch comedy. Shearer has authored three books and has received a Primetime Emmy Award along with multiple other nominations. He has also received Grammy nominations. He has been married to singer-songwriter Judith Owen since 1993 and became an artist in residence at Loyola University in New Orleans in 2013.
