Joseph Harry Fowler Connick Jr. is an American singer, pianist, composer, actor, and former television host born on September 11, 1967. He has achieved significant commercial success with over 30 million records sold worldwide as of 2019. Connick is among the top 60 best-selling male artists in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America, with 16 million in certified sales. He has released seven top 20 albums in the United States and holds the record for the most number-one jazz albums in U.S. chart history with ten as of 2009. His best-selling album in the U.S. is the Christmas album When My Heart Finds Christmas released in 1993, and his highest-charting album is Only You from 2004, which reached number five in the United States and number six in Britain. Connick has received three Grammy Awards and two Emmy Awards for his work. In addition to his music career, he has acted in various films and television. He debuted as an actor in the WWII film Memphis Belle in 1990 and appeared in films such as Copycat, Independence Day, Hope Floats, Basic, Bug, P.S. I Love You, and New in Town. He has lent his voice to the animated film The Iron Giant and has had roles in family and romantic films including Dolphin Tale and its sequel. Connick also played Leo Markus on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace from 2002 to 2006.
