Greg Grandin: podcast appearances and interviews

Greg Grandin is an American historian and author born in 1962. He is a professor of history at Yale University and has previously taught at New York University. Grandin has written several notable books, including Fordlândia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford's Forgotten Jungle City, published in 2010. This book, which explores the history of Fordlândia in Brazil, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for History, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Another significant work, Who is Rigoberta Menchú? published in 2011, examines the treatment of the Guatemalan Nobel Peace Prize winner. His 2014 book, The Empire of Necessity, investigates slavery, freedom, and deception in the New World and is based on the novella Benito Cereno by Herman Melville. In 2025, Grandin published America, América: A New History of the New World, which was shortlisted for the Cundill History Prize. His book The End of the Myth: From the Frontier to the Border Wall in the Mind of America, released in 2019, received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction.
