Grant R. F. McAuley, born on July 6, 1949, in Auckland, New Zealand, is a former competitive rower. He represented New Zealand in various international rowing events during the 1970s. McAuley was part of the New Zealand eight that secured a bronze medal at the 1975 World Rowing Championships held in Nottingham, Great Britain. Additionally, he competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in the coxless four alongside Bob Murphy, David Lindstrom, and Des Lock, finishing in fourth place narrowly behind the Soviet Union team. He also participated in the 1978 World Rowing Championships in the double sculls with John White, where they finished sixth in the final. At the 1979 World Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, McAuley was a member of the eight that won a silver medal. His contributions to the sport were recognized locally when he was awarded the Bay of Plenty Sportsman of the Year in 1979. McAuley's athletic achievements have been acknowledged by the New Zealand Olympic Committee, which lists him as Olympian athlete number 358.
