Geoff Palmer: podcast appearances and interviews

Sir Godfrey Henry Oliver Palmer was a Jamaican-British academic and human rights activist. He served as a professor emeritus at the School of Life Sciences at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Palmer is known for discovering the barley abrasion process during his research at Heriot-Watt University under the guidance of Anna Macleod. His contributions to the field of brewing were recognized in 1998 when he received the American Society of Brewing Chemists Award of Distinction, an honor considered analogous to a Nobel Prize within the brewing industry. In 1989, Palmer became the first black professor in Scotland, a milestone in academic history. Following his retirement in 2005, he was granted the title of professor emeritus. Palmer's work and dedication to human rights and scientific research earned him a knighthood in the 2014 New Year Honours. Throughout his career, he was also involved with Green Machine, further demonstrating his ongoing engagement in initiatives related to science and community development.
