Initially a collegiate basketball player at Washburn University, he later transferred to the University of Kansas to pursue golf, during which he built a successful amateur career. Turning professional in 2007, Woodland achieved his first PGA Tour victory in 2011. He has secured one major championship, winning the 2019 U.S. Open.
