Gabe Klein

Gabe Klein is a government official, urban planner, entrepreneur, and investor with a focus on sustainability and transportation. He served in the Biden Administration as the head of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, where he oversaw the rollout of a national electric vehicle charging network and promoted the adoption of electric school and transit buses across the United States. As the first Executive Director of this office, which was also the first federal office to span multiple agencies, Klein managed a budget of 19 billion dollars. Prior to his government service, Klein co-founded Cityfi, a consultancy that collaborates with local governments, foundations, and venture-backed startups. He has held leadership roles as the Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation and the Director of the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. Additionally, he was an executive at Zipcar, a Boston-based car-sharing company. Klein is also an author, having written the book Start-Up City: Inspiring Private and Public Entrepreneurship, Getting Projects Done, and Having Fun.
